TFTD: Is creation (khalq), in the miraculous sense, an on-going thing or a one-off?
ie Did Allah create the universal laws and then set things in motion of their own accord, or is there divine interventionin/creation every childbirth and every rainfall and every seed that grows?

TFTD: Isn't a "secular crusade" a self-contradictory term?
(Rummani)
You mean isn't it an antithesis? Yes it is.
(from Fallen Angle)
How can the West be described as "capitalist", "secular" and "Crusader" at the same time?

TFTD: Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice, but acquitted on both charges by the Senate; the vote followed strict party lines, reflecting the politicisation of US justice.
Q: would such impeachment automaticilly lead to the removal of the Khalifah from office, and how would we ensure our justice isn't influenced by political loyalties?
Thu 24/05/2007 23:02 to 0 Chancellor
Boring... You can't pre-empt the natural development of the political culture, although we can take part in its development by contribution, debate, etc
Thu 24/05/2007 23:07 from 0 Chancellor
Also build up to the khilafa may be some time away, local system political systems and culture will facilitate the political growth prior to return of caliph

Its a challenge, primarily to expose the inadequacy of the proposed solution, as well as an opportunity to think about constituional mechanisms to safeguard what can only be described as the most important thing in politics.
Thu 24/05/2007 23:11 to 0 Chancellor
Don't you think that in order for the issues to be considered really they have to be constructed really, over practical and basic development and developed
Thu 24/05/2007 23:14 from 0 Chancellor
The inadequacy of the proposed solution has been established! You have done that clearly!
Thu 24/05/2007 23:16 from 0 Chancellor
(some believers still have an atom's weight of iman, hence the reverse daawah)
Thu 24/05/2007 23:18 to 0 Chancellor
Meaning i don't think we need to get there before thinking about it. I think thats why the early khilafah was so flakey
Thu 24/05/2007 23:19 to 0 Chancellor
I think we need to think about the here and now and develop our political philosophy and approach. Agreed not when we get there, just build up to it practically

Riddle: The salafis go for tawheed. The berelwis go for the love of the Prophet. The tablighis go to perfect themselves. The ikhwanis go to be upright members of the community. The tahriris don't go because they are too busy working to establish the khilafah. The ex tahriris dont go because the party treated them badly so there must be something wrong with islam.
(from King Jaffy Joffa of Zamunda)
Yeah the Xbots have been trained to be cynical of everything and after once expecting so much from Islam its difficult to resign to the fact that -perhaps- its not much more than smiling to your neighbour..

And not going to the cinema.

I don't follow....why should there be something wrong with islam?

My greatest fear is going on haj and having to go to unclean toilets.
Thu 24/05/2007 17:29 from 0 Fallen Angle
While the apostasy answer is the "correct" answer, i dont think it can ever be an honest answer. The closest i could come to that is saying my greatest fear is dying only to discover i'd got it all badly wrong. Yot might say that's the same but its not.

Wot is yr grts fear
Wed 23/05/2007 22:28 from Don Qui Hote
My greatest fear is the future and what it holds.
Thu 24/05/2007 10:25 from 0 Fallen Angle
I dont want to sound too cliche, but, well, Muslims dont generally do 'fear of the future', its a cultural / aqeedah thing. Innit
Thu 24/05/2007 10:31 to 0 Fallen Angle
Do you mean the future in the material sense or the spiritual/philosophical sense? ie Will i have a job 10 years from now? Or am i headed in the right direction?
Thu 24/05/2007 12:30 to 0 Fallen Angle
All of the above.
Thu 24/05/2007 12:31 from 0 Fallen Angle
Will i have any text credit at the end of the month?
Thu 24/05/2007 12:32 to 0 Fallen Angle
Probably less so will I have a job. More so things like future of kids. ie. I worry about marry my daughter off because everyone other than me is a spacker! Surely you worry about that too.
Thu 24/05/2007 12:33 from 0 Fallen Angle
My greatest fear is what lies within.
Thu 24/05/2007 17:26 from 0 Fallen Angle
My greatest fear is apostasy.
Thu 24/05/2007 17:27 from 0 Fallen Angle
My greatest fear is doubt, with which I am consumed.

TFTD: After WWII the Allies helped Germany and Japan rebuild themselves after near total destruction, and within a few years both countries became leading industrialised nations enjoying political stability.
Q: how come Iraq hasn't had similar results?

There are those (eg salafis, TJ) who believe the tooth stick made from the root of the arak tree in Mekka (aka siwak or miswak) is somehow mandub, and contains magical qualities for fighting tooth decay etc, and there's even miswak flavoured toothpaste. They didn't look at it as a man keeping his mouth clean with the best instrument he could find. They look at it as a man inspired by revelation from Allah in all matters. If its bad when it comes to dental hygeine its absolutely disastrous when applied to politics. Re-read the Ruling System and you'll see what I mean. Or read the constitution.

FWD: wally: Its really a bit ridiculous to say the judiciary is delegated by the khalifah, judging on his behalf, claiming that the Prophet and Abu Bakr etc ruled madhalim themselves. It reflects a backward way of thinking and an unimaginative and negative attitude towards history and politics: doing things this way because that's how it was done before. I call it the xmiswak mentality". Its the political equivalent of a ball and chain around your neck

Well the bot in me would say, there is no permanent recognition of any state's sovereignity, since we want to conquer them all. And definitely no recognition of any states once ruled by islam. Yes that doesn't sound very modern but it's like that, it's just the way it is. What alternatives do you suggest mr progressive? That we draw our lines and live happily ever after?

With regards to a solution coming from the west. Accepted that they currently have the moral high ground and have done more than anyone to eradicate it. One would also argue that their policies in africa have precipitated it, historically and now. For the history they profusely apologise. There is no solution Right now. It's too widespread. Perhaps a portion of the 400 billion they spent in iraq would help.
In india alone it's thought there are 1 million child slaves.
