TFTD: In a democracy, the term "opposition" (or "loyal opposition") is used to refer to the main political grouping that opposes the policies and actions of the executive government, often presenting themselves as a "government in waiting".
Depending on the nature of the electoral system, these oppositions can also be nominal/tokenistic, consist of a coalition, or may not even exist as such (in the case of proportionally representative systems). Oppositions can play a crucial role in holding the executive to account and leading public debate.
Q: Would you envisage a future Islamic caliphate having such a thing as an opposition? How would you anticipate it functioning?
